Welcome to the seminar editions, an integral part of the festivals of art and ideas presented (the others being the art retreat and exposition). These seminars are on the visual perceptions in the arts and sciences, of the significant exchange of beliefs and ideas, encompassing the studies of human endeavour across borders and boundaries.
Apart from the varied subjects in the arts and sciences, we have an profound focus on the historical cultural heritage of Goa and the dissemination of this knowledge to a wider audience globally, by sharing this endowment for posterity. In the three seminars introduced we have presented 14 authoritative papers by 15 accomplished scholars and academicians in their respective fields. These seminar papers are a valuable resource of documentation and archival material.
All the seminars were held in the capital city of Goa, wherein their thesis presented were pronounced by the invited authorities, on their designated subject.
The first edition was held on 23rd September 2005 at the Marriott Resort, the speakers being Dr. Sudhir Kakar, Ranjit Hoskote and Nancy Adajania. They presented papers on psycho-analysis in art and the visual perceptions in art respectively.
The second edition was on the 29th of August 2011, at the Maquinez Palace Auditorium, wherein the scholars presented papers pertaining to the visual image in the fields of anthropology, sociology, couture and visual art respectively. The scholars were Dr. Bernadette Gomes, Prof. Alito Siqueira, Eng. Jose Lourenco, Wendell Rodricks and Dr. Alka Pande.
The third edition of The Vice-Versa Festival of Art & Ideas was on the 26th and 27th of November 2012, at the Krishnadas Shama State Central Library Auditorium, with a perceptive focus on anthropology, architecture, art and literature. The scholars included Margaret Mascarenhas, Dr. Alexander Henn, Fr. Cosme Costa, Suresh Jairam, Savia Viegas, Arch. Gerard Da Cunha and Charudutta Prabhudesai.
